The Town of Mooresville does not sell electricity. Homes and businesses in the Mooresville area get power from Duke Energy or from EnergyUnited, a member-owned electric cooperative. Your bill shows which one serves you. Report an outage to that company, not the town.

Duke Energy

Duke Energy says customers can report an outage online at duke-energy.com/outages, in the Duke Energy app, by texting OUT to 57801 or by calling 800.POWERON (800.769.3766), the ways it listed for Carolinas customers in its Winter Storm Fern release in January. Its outage map, on the same page, shows current outages and estimated restoration times.

Report a downed or sagging line to Duke Energy at 800-228-8485 and keep clear of it.

EnergyUnited

EnergyUnited’s outage center lists 1-800-386-4833 (1-800-EUNITED) for outages and payments and an online report form. Its outage map shows how many members are out, estimated restoration times and the weather crews are facing. Member support is 1-800-522-3793. The cooperative says to report safety hazards such as downed lines immediately.

EnergyUnited is growing locally: Iredell County’s economic development corporation lists a 250,000-square-foot EnergyUnited expansion in Mooresville among its 2026 announcements. See our new businesses roundup.

When the power goes out

  • Check the map first. If your outage already shows, the utility knows; reporting again is still fine if it does not.
  • Stay away from downed lines. Assume every line is live and call 911.
  • Water and sewer are the town’s job. For a main break or sewer backup after hours, call 704-664-3311; during business hours, Public Utilities is 704-663-7282.
  • Dark traffic signals: report them to police non-emergency, 704-664-3311.

Alerts

  • Iredell County OnSolve (CodeRED) alerts: emergency notices for severe weather and public safety; sign up.
  • Town notifications: sanitation and town alerts through the town’s notification portal.
  • Weather: the National Weather Service office in Greenville-Spartanburg covers Iredell County; see the forecast for Mooresville.

What this means for you

  • Find out now whether you are a Duke Energy or EnergyUnited customer, and save that number.
