School is out for Mooresville Graded School District students after Thursday, May 20, 2027. The town’s War Memorial Recreation Center pool opens Memorial Day weekend and runs to Labor Day, the splash pads at Liberty and Hope parks are free, and Carrigan Farms’ quarry swim returns in May 2027. Camp lists for 2027 had not been posted when we checked.

Pools

War Memorial Recreation Center pool, 220 N. Maple St. The town’s outdoor pool holds 133,000 gallons and has:

  • a zero-depth walk-in entry and a sprinkler play area
  • two 3-foot-deep children’s play areas
  • four lap lanes
  • a concession stand with cold drinks, snacks and frozen treats

Season: Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day. Hours are limited until the school year ends, and the pool is closed to the public during group swim lessons and events. For rain closures, call the weather hotline, 704-633-8516. Report a pool problem on the town’s aquatics page.

The Lowe’s YMCA, 170 Joe Knox Ave., lists an indoor pool among its amenities.

Splash pads

The town’s parks list shows two splash pads, both free:

Pets are not allowed in a pool or water play area under the town’s park ordinance.

Lake and quarry swimming

  • Carrigan Farms open swim, 1213 Oak Ridge Farm Highway (use the farm’s west entrance): a natural quarry with lifeguards on duty. Everyone wears a life jacket unless they pass the swim test, and everyone signs a waiver. Reserve online; the farm takes cash only at the door and does not allow outside food, pets or speakers. Open swim ended for 2026 and returns in May 2027.
  • Lake Norman State Park, 759 State Park Road, Troutman: a swim beach on the lake. Day use is free; the park charges for swim passes. Pets are not allowed on the swim beach.

Camps

  • Mooresville Parks and Recreation: camps and classes are in the town’s CivicRec catalog and the seasonal program guide; the Summer 2026 guide is still posted, and the Summer 2027 guide had not come out by Oct. 11. The department says phone registration is not recommended and asks for one account per family. Financial help for programs is listed on its programs page.
  • Lowe’s YMCA: a summer day camp; the Y listed 2026 day camp as registering when we checked.

Free summer evenings (2026 schedule)

The town’s Rock the Park concerts in Liberty Park ran on five Fridays from May 1 to Sept. 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., free, with food trucks and local breweries. Its movie nights showed Zootopia 2 on July 31 and GOAT on Aug. 28, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. The 2027 lineups had not been announced.
