Buses and vans: ICATS
ICATS, the Iredell County Area Transportation System, runs subscription, demand-response, deviated fixed-route and express commuter services, and serves everyone as well as its priority riders: older adults, people with disabilities and people with low incomes. Fares are $1 a boarding, regardless of distance, the county’s routes page says.
- The Mooresville Main: a deviated fixed route in town. Board at a designated stop and pull the cord to get off anywhere it is safe to stop. Stop times are in the printable schedule on that page. If you cannot reach a stop, call ICATS.
- Booked trips: call 704-873-9393, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, at least 48 hours and no more than a month ahead, the Schedule a Trip page says. Cancel at least two hours ahead; three no-shows bring a 30-day suspension.
- ICATS Commuter Express: the county lists a commuter express service; call ICATS for its current schedule.

- The town’s Pedal Moore(sville) Bicycle Plan and Mooresville Mobility Plan are on the planning page.
- The East Center Avenue project adds bike lanes and a walking link to Willow Valley Park and the Liberty Park greenway, due at the end of 2026.
- Downtown, the half block of Moore Avenue just south of Main Street has been a pedestrian plaza, closed to cars, since November 2024.
Downtown parking
Starting Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, the town bars parking from 2 to 6 a.m. in three downtown public lots, the town announced:
- the Charles Mack Citizen Center back lot, upper and lower, off Church Street
- the public lot off Church Street between Moore and Center avenues
- the Liberty Park lot, off Iredell Avenue
Cars left there in those hours can be ticketed and towed. Overnight parking is still allowed in the public lot at Church Street and Iredell Avenue and on the street. Businesses whose workers stay past 2 a.m. get special passes. The town says the change came out of months of talks with Mill One, the Mooresville Downtown Commission and downtown business owners.
For big downtown events, such as the Christmas parade on Nov. 24, organizers send drivers to Broad and Church streets; see our Christmas parade guide.
What this means for you
